Liquid Air as an Energy Carrier for Liquefied Natural Gas Cold Energy Distribution in Cold Storage Systems

Liquid air can be employed as a carrier of cold energy obtained from liquefied natural gas (LNG) and surplus electricity. This study evaluates the potential liquid distributed source with supply chain for storage system using air. Energy storing distributing processes are conceptually designed evaluated considering both thermodynamic economic aspects. Further, proposed is compared conventional NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system. The analysis demonstrates that exergy efficiency coefficient performance 22% 0.56, respectively. Economic based on life cycle cost (LCC) evaluation. From analysis, production LCC (LACS) estimated to 40.4 USD/ton 34.2 MMUSD, reduced by 19% in LACS economically feasible, although its performances lower than those sensitivity indicates LNG mass flow rate liquefaction operating time dominant parameters affecting performance.
